Can I change the LED in my coupling myself?

No, this must be undertaken by an NSK Authorised Technician.

What is the correct operating air pressure for my NSK high speed handpiece?

Please see operating manual relevant to your NSK handpiece under Instruction Manuals on this website.

Can I sterilise my NSK handpiece / LED coupling?

If it carries the relevant symbol  for Autoclave or  for Thermo-disinfector. Under no circumstances should you autoclave your NSK LED coupling.

How often should I lubricate my high speed handpiece?

Please refer to relevant operation manual in Instruction Manuals on this website. Always perform lubrication immediately after cleaning and prior to sterilisation

What lubrication should I use?

NSK recommends using the NSK iCare oiling machines or Pana Spray Plus.

Is there a high speed handpiece that does not utilise chip air for use in surgical procedures?

Yes, the NSK X450L is suitable for surgical procedures.

Low Speeds and Contra-angles

Can I sterilise my Contra-angle handpiece?

Yes, If it carries the relevant symbol  for Autoclave or  for Thermo-disinfector.

How often should I lubricate my Contra-angle handpiece?

Please refer to relevant operation manual under the Instruction Manuals page on this website. Always perform lubrication immediately after cleaning and prior to sterilisation

Can my optic Contra-angle handpiece be used on a non-optic motor?

No, the optic Contra-angle handpiece has a locating block which aligns with optic motor and is not compatible with a non-optic type.

What lubrication should I use?

NSK recommends using the NSK iCare oiling machines or Pana Spray Plus.

What does the colour coded band on my Contra-angle handpiece indicate?

The colours indicate the gear ratio category of the handpiece eg. Blue = Direct drive(1:1) Green = Speed reduction (4:1/10:1/16:1) Red = Speed increasing (1:5)

Should I lubricate my NSK electric micromotor?

No, lubrication of electric micromotors is not necessary.

Should I lubricate my NSK Air motor?

Yes, Please refer to relevant operation manual under the Instruction Manuals page, or visit the Daily Product Care page for more information.

Can my optic Contra-angle handpiece be used on a non-optic motor?

No, the optic Contra-angle handpiece has a locating block which aligns with optic motor and is not compatible with a non-optic type.

Can I sterilise my micromotor?

If it carries the relevant symbol  for Autoclave or  for Thermo-disinfector.  In the case of electric micromotors, always ensure you attach autoclave plugs. Refer to relevant operation manual under Instruction Manuals for more information.

What tips can I use on my NSK Ultrasonic scaler handpiece?

Please refer to our NSK Ultrasonic Tip Guide It is important to observe the maximum power setting for each tip as they differ.

How do I prevent a build-up of special irrigation solutions in handpieces and control units?

Ensure that you flush and purge handpieces and units where possible. Refer to relevant operation manual on the Instruction Manuals page for more information

Which powders should I use in my Prophy-Mate / Prophy-Mate Neo system?

NSK recommends the use of NSK Flash Pearl prophy powder as it has a non-clogging formula.

Why won’t my NSK Endomate DT / TC2 power up?

Ensure batteries are charged. Please refer to troubleshooting section in relevant operation manual on the Instruction Manuals page for more information

Surgical

How do I correctly insert irrigation tubing into the pump on my NSK surgical unit?

Please refer to the relevant operation manual which can be found on the Instruction Manuals page. Do not force tube into pump by using locking lever, this could damage the unit.

How can I prevent a build-up / blockage of irrigation solution in my NSK surgical handpiece nozzle?

Ensure that all irrigation tubes and nozzles are flushed with demineralised water followed by purging with compressed air.

How often should I clean my NSK Laboratory handpiece chuck?

NSK recommends removing the chuck and cleaning on a weekly basis

Should I lubricate my NSK Laboratory handpiece?

No, under no circumstances should you put lubricants into laboratory handpieces, they are designed to be run dry, ingress of oil or grease will damage internal parts.

Can I change my Presto cartridge myself?

My NSK laboratory unit is displaying an error message, what should I do?

I have oil in my autoclave bags, what should I do?

Ensure that the “Air” button is utilised after every oil cycle to purge excess oil.

My iCare doesn’t seem to be oiling my handpieces?

Check that adaptor couplings are correctly tightened and that correct air pressure is being supplied to the unit. (0.35 – 0.60Mpa) or (50-80psi)

How do I find the right Pana Spray Plus/ iCare adaptor for my handpiece?

How long does it take to service my handpiece at NSK?

Upon receipt of your equipment, you should expect a quotation within 24 hours. Following the acceptance of the quote and full payment, in most cases, repairs will be carried out and sent to you within 24 hours.

Can I arrange for an NSK representative to visit my clinic / practice to advise on cleaning and maintenance protocols.
