Learning Aim:

The presentation intends to provide delegates with an up-to-date, evidence-based understanding of how the EFP S3-level clinical practice guidelines inform periodontal and peri-implant care in 2026, and of how the latest developments — including the brand-new EFP–EAPD consensus on paediatric gingival and periodontal diseases and the 20th EWP consensus on contemporary and emerging technologies in periodontal diagnosis — translate into everyday clinical decision-making, aligned with NSK’s M.I.T. framework for minimally invasive, patient-centred therapy.

Learning Objectives:

• Describe the four-step EFP S3 stepwise approach to periodontal and peri-implant care, and outline how it maps onto NSK’s M.I.T. framework.
• Summarise the key diagnostic developments from the 20th European Workshop on Periodontology and their implications for day-to-day clinical decision-making.
• Apply the recommendations from the April 2026 EFP–EAPD consensus on gingival and periodontal diseases in children and adolescents, including those relevant to the orthodontic patient.
• Identify the practice-relevant changes arising from the 2026 update that can be integrated into the daily clinical workflow.
• Discuss the implications of the upcoming EFP European Workshop on Periodontology 2026 on gingival recessions and the planned 2027 update of the classification of periodontal and peri-implant diseases and conditions.
