NSK Ikigai Webinar – The Use of Biomimetic Toothpastes in Dental Prevention

The Use of Biomimetic Toothpastes in Dental Prevention. Is Fluoride the only answer?

An Ikigai Webinar with

Louisa Clarke MSc, BSc (Hons), Dip DH, Assoc.FCGD.

Learning Aims:

To gain a greater understanding of the dental hard tissues at nanoscale, how they are protected naturally in the oral environment to prevent caries, erosion and dentinal hypersensitivity, and how we can prevent and restore loss of tissue and function using biomimetic, bioactive pastes, especially those containing calcium phospho-silicate.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this webinar, delegates will have:

  • Discussed the nanocomposite nature of the dental hard tissues and how this relates to biomimetics
  • Discussed the importance of the Acquired Enamel Pellicle (AEP), how it is developed and its role in the prevention of the dental hard tissues
  • Investigated the use of alternative pastes containing Calcium and Phosphate, with or without Fluoride, in the remineralisation process, and their mode of action on the dental hard tissues
  • Heightened awareness of the structure, properties and mode of action of bioactive glasses and their role in prevention and repair of the dental hard tissues

GDC – C

Worth 1 hour of verifiable eCPD

Gaining verifiable CPD is an essential component of a dental professional’s life-long learning and as a company we are committed to the provision of relevant education. As part of this commitment we publish regular online CPD articles. Each article is followed by a series of multiple-choice questions that should be answered online, after which respondents will receive immediate feedback as to whether answers are correct or given the opportunity to re-answer if necessary.

On completion of the video you will be able to download a PDF certificate, which can be used as evidence of CPD hours.
